| The ATAR uses telemetry data transmitted over
UHF/SATCOM radio and points its L-band microwave
antenna at the broadcast source. C or S band configurations
are also supported. Ranges over 90 miles have been
acheived in an operational environment. The ATAR
incorporates a GPS unit for mobile applications
such as shipboard operations. |

The ATAR positions its antenna in azimuth as well as elevation. The antenna has
approximately 40 degrees of sensitivity in azimuth, and 20 degrees in elevation. The
pan/tilt unit steers the antenna 330 degrees in azimuth, and from 0 to +39 degrees in
elevation. The ATAR can be positioned over 200 feet from the control computer with a
twisted pair control cable. Fiber optic control lines can extend this distance to over
one mile. The ATAR includes a GPS unit that updates the control computer with position
information once per second. Provisions for securing UHF antennas are provided on either
side of the mounting plate.
